The Hunting Season

The Hunting Season

Hunting at the Club is primarily focused on partridge hunting. The season opens in mid-September. The daily bag limit is 5/person with a possession limit of 15/person. The normal routine is to individually walk or ride our 25 miles + of trails.  You can have multiple people work the same trail if you leave a short interval between transits (typically 30 minutes).

The deer season was closed in this area in the early 70’s and while it has opened again the deer population in our part of the territory is not very abundant. There is a moose season for 2 weeks in mid-October. There are Moose Camps all around us and for these two weeks there are lots of people in the bush. There has only been a little interest by Club members in going after moose in recent years.

Hunting Licenses require the passing of certain provincial tests, Firearms Possession and Acquisition Licenses require the passing of certain federal tests. Finding the necessary courses and passing these tests can take several months. It is more mechanical than difficult and one new member went through the whole process over a 4-month period last year.

All visitors to the Club, members and guests, must have the correct Quebec resident or non-resident Fishing and Hunting Licenses, the correct Federal Firearms Licenses and all must obey the relevant Quebec Fishing and Hunting Regulations.
